Stay Away from the Studio

Casa Madrid Apts. in Anaheim, are a nice looking place to live. Not the Studios. I lived in a studio in 2001 and have moved to a 1 bedroom in the same complex. The ventilation in the studio was poor at best. This caused problems with mold, bugs, and illness. You could open a sliding glass door, but then you lost all privacy. The repairmen do not repair anything in a timely manner. I had told them about doors falling off hinges due to them not fixing it before we moved in. They were not fixed when we were moving out. They also didn't fix a slab leak we had due to poor insulation and pipe work. There was mold and the carpet and the walls. I had the carpets cleaned (at my own expense) and cleaned the walls when it started to show up. The next day it was there. The office staff is also not interested with their renters of the studio apts. Since I haved moved to a 1 bedroom, I have not had any of the problems that I have mentioned, except the slow working repairmen. The office staff has changed, but the treatment of people in the studios has not. Part of the problem is due to Families having 6 people living in a studio. The office staff just wants to fill the apts. If it is done illegally, it doesn't seem to matter. What matters is that they fill the complex. The worst problem within the complex is Parking. They have half the parking spots for the amount of apts. they have. They tried to make new parking rules and assigned us permits for the corresponding parking spots. This works easy for getting cars towed, but that is about it. There are plenty of open spots for people who have multiple drivers and cars within their apartment. The problem with the open spots is that people store their broken and un registered cars there. It stricly says not to do that in the agreement everyone had to sign. This would normally work, if they enforced it.
If you plan on spending 900 for a 1 bedroom and up this is a good place to live. If you can only afford a studio, your chances are better living in the street.
